Galante Tax Group, LLC
Galante Tax Group, LLC is owned and operated by Jeffrey Galante. Jeff started Galante Tax Group, LLC to build on his successful career at the IRS and his tax controversy work at Deloitte Tax LLP. Jeff's IRS career was over 31 years, and included every job from Revenue Agent to the Area Director of Appeals. Jeff has also successfully represented clients before the IRS, while he worked at Deloitte Tax LLP, a Big 4 accounting firm. His successful cases ranged from simple individual issues to very complex Fortune 500 company tax controversies. Jeff has an excellent reputation with the IRS, and has an equally valued reputation in the Big 4 accounting community. Jeff specializes in negotiating and resolving tax controversies with the IRS and State tax agencies. To give you a better understanding of Jeff's qualification, we want to spend some time discussing his 31 year career in technical and managerial positions with the IRS, and his successes at Deloitte Tax LLP.
During his extensive and successful IRS career, Jeff gained valuable experience in the following positions within the Examination and Appeals Divisions:
* Revenue Agent (New York)
Audited individual, and corporate income tax returns.
* Large Case Team Revenue Agent (New York)
Audited large corporate income tax returns.
* Revenue Agent Tax Analyst (Washington D.C.)
Wrote the IRS procedure manual for Revenue Agents.
* Revenue Agent Manager (Texas and California)
Responsible for selecting tax returns to be audited.
* Appeals Team Manager (California)
Responsible for the settlement of Collection and Examination cases.
* Appeals Assistant Chief (California)
Responsible for the settlement of Collection and Examination cases.
* Appeals Area Director (California)
Office-wide responsibility for the settlement of Collection and Examination cases.
The many technical and managerial positions Jeff held within the IRS provide him with in-depth knowledge of tax matters, as well as the policies and procedures of the IRS's Audit, Collection, and Appeals Divisions.
Jeff has also worked on the "other side of the fence" while working at Deloitte Tax LLP. Jeff successfully negotiated with the IRS on Collection, Examination and Appeals matters ranging from less complex matters to very complex corporate tax issues involving millions of dollars. He had an outstanding record of audits results, many resulting in no adjustments being recommended by the IRS. Jeff also successfully negotiated with the IRS to abate various client penalties including late filing, late paying, and accuracy related penalties. On one particular Collection issue matter, Jeff was successful in getting the IRS to back off their assertion that the client owed over $600,000. Instead, the client owed nothing to the IRS.
Jeff strives to put his clients at ease. Jeff's strategy is to first brief the client as to what to expect during the audit, and then be actively involved during the audit, to ensure that it stay on track and doesn't become a fishing expedition. Several clients said that "Jeff that the IRS acted differently when Jeff attended the audit session. The IRS Revenue Agents would make sure that they complied with their own policies and procedures. The Revenue Agents knew that Jeff was aware of all of the IRS' policies and procedures, and that he would tell them or their managers when they weren't following their proper audit procedures.

* "Client was very, very happy with Jeff and the experience he brought to the engagement. I believe in the client's eyes, Jeff significantly exceeded his, the company's, and their attorney's expectations." William A., CA [Note: this case resulted in a no change audit result.]
* "Jeff came in and helped us during a difficult IRS audit. His efforts concluded in a successful waiving of all penalties. His writing and research are excellent. Jeff was instrumental in bringing the audit to a favorable conclusion. The client is very appreciative of Jeff's services." Curtis H., CA
* "Jeff is very creditable and confident in his knowledge of the procedures necessary during an IRS audit, but comes across as very personable with the Revenue Agent. He very quickly established a great rapport. This situation has been unique in that the client is now a shell company and the IRS audit procedure was a bit different. Jeff has been very pragmatic and done an excellent job of working with the Revenue Agent in determining the appropriate audit plan." Diana M., CA
* "Jeff consulted on a rather complex IRS Appeals issue very effectively and had great recommendations for the client. Jeff had an excellent knowledge of the IRS Appeals process and how to navigate it effectively. I would consider it a privilege to work with Jeff again." Dexter, P., CA
* "Jeff helped me with an IRS Revenue Agent's proposed assessment Appeals hearing. He was well prepared. He understood the issue well. He was very well versed in the background case law and related statute and applicable regulations. And he was very successful in convincing the Appeals Officer that the taxpayer's position was correct." Robert W., CA
* "Jeff became involved in this client's case when the IRS Revenue Agent declined to negotiate a settlement after reviewing our protest letter. It was suggested that this case would be perfect for the Appeals Fast Track Mediation process, which is Jeff's specialty. After arranging the Fast Track conference with the IRS and sharing our strategy with the IRS and client, the IRS called shortly before the conference to fully concede and to say that they would issue a no change report." Craig, J., Washington D.C.
* "Jeff's experience and insight were invaluable in guiding our internal team and client through the Appeals Mediation process. He communicated effectively and enabled us to understand the process and make sound recommendations to the client. For example, he was able to obtain statistical information to show the number of cases that used an external mediator and to walk the client through the pros and cons of an external mediator. Also, he was able to provide insight into the choice of an Appeals mediator due to his intimate knowledge of the people and institution." Lisa P., CA [Note: this case resulted in a successful post-Appeals mediation, and the client was very happy with the result.]
